About the authors

Cass Abrahams is celebrated as the Queen of Spices. And for good reason! She is an expert on Cape Malay cuisine and culture. Throughout the years she has drawn inspiration from watching her mother-in-law and learning from the rich variety of South African food traditions and cultures.

Marike Bekker is an experienced television producer and freelance journalist who specialises in environmental issues, culture stories and food programmes. She is passionate about researching and reporting on the diverse cultures of South Africa.
